Maureen Williamson and her family are quids in after Raw Deal helped secure them refunds for Christmas gifts they ordered but that didn’t arrive on time.
In December, Maureen, from Glasgow, ordered a package online from Marks & Spencer as a present for her friend. This consisted of Christmas flowers, chocolates and a bottle of wine, which cost around £35.
“When this did not arrive in time, I checked my order and noticed it said this would be delivered on or before December 27 and that this order could not be cancelled,” she said.
“I decided not to make a fuss and let the order run and found that, by the time it was delivered and left on my friend’s doorstep, she had been rushed to hospital and was critically ill with Covid-19.”
At the same time, Maureen’s son ordered a £50 bouquet of flowers for her from M&S and a cake for his own birthday on December 31 costing another £10.
“Again, there was no flowers for Christmas,” Maureen said. “These flowers also arrived on December 27, but the cake did not arrive until February 1, with a best-before date of February 2.
“I expected better service than this from Marks & Spencer.”
After Raw Deal contacted the retail giant, the Williamsons were soon refunded in full for both of their orders.
M&S said: “As soon as this was brought to our attention we dealt with the issue directly with the customer.”
Maureen said she was grateful to Raw Deal for stepping in.
She added: “Your Raw Deal department and The Sunday Post do a great job in giving your readers a voice. Many thanks.”
