SCOTTISH classical musicians Sarah and Laura Ayoub have gone to number one with an album they spent just a day recording.
The Bearsden duo, known professionally as The Ayoub Sisters, had just nine hours to perfect their album at the prestigious Abbey Road Studios in London with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Laura, 21, who is three years younger than her sister admitted it felt like they were camping out in the famous studio as they perfected songs like Pie Jesu, Uptown Funk, Billie Jean and Misirlou for their album which debuted at number one in the iTunes Official Classical Artists Album Charts.
She said: “We recorded the bulk of the album in one nine-hour day. We got the opportunity to record at Abbey Road with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the only way that was going to be possible was if we condensed everything into one day.”
The pair are multi-instrumentalists, though Laura plays violin and Sarah the cello.
