Princess Beatrice has described how honoured she was to wear one of the Queen’s dresses for her summer wedding.
The princess wore the vintage gown when she married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a low-key ceremony in Windsor in July.
She shared a touching photograph of herself and her new husband with the Queen and Prince Philip on their big day as she thanked well-wishers.
Beatrice made two rare posts from her official Twitter account, with the first saying: “Thank you to everyone who has sent in and tweeted their best wishes for our special day in July.
“Edo and I are so excited to embark on this new chapter together.”
The second encouraged people to visit an exhibition at Windsor Castle, where her wedding dress and shoes are on public display.
She added: “It was an honour to wear my grandmother’s beautiful dress on my wedding day.
“I hope many of you are able to visit the exhibition which is still open at Windsor Castle.”
The Queen first wore the dress to a State dinner in Rome in 1961, and loaned it to Beatrice for her wedding.
Their ceremony was attended only by the couple’s close family.
