With summer well on its way, now is the perfect time to dig out your seasonal wardrobe – and to think about your tan.
We all love having a bit of a golden glow when the sun shines and, with travel largely on hold, most of us are going to be faking it.
Jordan Cook, tanning expert at St Moriz, says with a few golden rules, your skin can look sensationally sun-kissed.
“The first rule is prepare your skin,” says Jordan. “To achieve the perfect tan, you need to exfoliate and moisturise. Then find your flow. Which is the easiest product to use…mousse, mist or lotion?
“And be realistic with colour. Choose one as close to your natural colour as possible.”
Follow Jordan’s top tips and you’ll be a beautifully bronzed babe in no time.
Preparation is key
“Start working on this seven days prior to application to make sure your skin is a blank canvas,” Jordan says. “Remove old tan with tan remover and exfoliating gloves. Then moisturise day and night.”
Tanning
“Wearing fake tan doesn’t just give you that holiday tan all-year-round, it also has many added benefits due to our added ingredients at a fraction of the cost of skin care products,” Jordan explains.
“Use tanning drops that you add into your moisturiser – or a tanning serum. Our tanning products include DHA (Dihydroxyacentone) which reacts with your natural amines to cause the skin to appear tanned. The higher level of DHA, the darker your skin will become.
“If you’re completely new to tanning go for lower DHA levels. Start with gradual moisturisers. They have a small amount of DHA which means you can apply daily and control the depth of colour.”
Guide colours
“Once you become a little more confident and want to increase your application skills, move on to a product which has guide colour.
“Guide colour is purely there to give an instant colour and to see exactly where you are applying. This will then wash away when your developing time is up, leaving you with the developed tan underneath.”
Jordan says if you’re struggling with those tough areas, like the face, knees, elbows and ankles, St Moriz Spray Tan In A Can and Face Spritz can be used as the perfect hand and feet tanner.
“You apply by misting the products over a clawed hand/relaxed foot with no need to rub or blend the product in.
“The way the tan lightly falls on to the skin will ensure just the right amount of colour, evenly distributed in the right places. You’ll see no streaks whatsoever!”
