IT was a dramatic night across the country as results poured in from the snap General Election.
And there were some big names amongst the casualties as seats changed hands.
Alex Salmond
Described as ‘the political earthquake of the night’ by STV’s Bernard Ponsonby, Alex Salmond’s defeat in Gordon was a huge shock.
The former First Minister’s constituency saw an increase in the Tory vote by 29%.

Angus Robertson
Another big SNP name, Angus Robertson, is no longer the MP for Moray.
The party’s deputy leader lost out to Conservative MSP and SFA referee Douglas Ross by just over 4000 votes.

Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh
Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh lost her Ochill and South Perthshire seat to the Conservatives.

Nick Clegg
Sheffield Hallam went to Labour as the former Deputy Prime Minister lost his Westminster seat.
Jane Ellison
Labour claimed the scalp of Financial Secretary to the Treasury Jane Ellison, taking her Battersea seat on a 10% swing.
