Location
Just on the outskirts of the town centre, there’s plenty of parking if you’re bringing the car.
First impressions
With cosy booths, contemporary decor and lots of window seats, it’s the perfect place to whittle away a few hours – and fill a hungry tum at the same time.
Service
We haven’t booked ahead of a busy weekend lunchtime, but the front of house jiggles a few tables around to make space for us. Service is prompt and with a smile. A friendly, chatty waitress makes sure we have all we need.
Menu
The menu is varied – and everything sounds delicious, especially classics like lasagne, burgers and steak pie. It was actually a chore deciding what to try. The two-course lunch is definitely a winner as it means you get to try two dishes. Before deciding you’re too full for dessert, take a peek in the cake counter, up near the bar. We guarantee you’ll decide you have a wee bit of room left.
Taste
We plump for the big breakfast and haggis bon bon, followed by chicken katsu curry. Everything is cooked to perfection. Clean plates all round. The kids go for chicken strips and tomato penne pasta and lap them up with delight.
Ambience
It’s quiet when we arrive but very quickly fills up. By the time we leave there isn’t an empty table in the house. It’s cosy, relaxed and welcoming which obviously appeals.
Price
Our bill for two adults and two children tallied up to just £43, which was cheap as chips. The two-course at just £11.95 is great value for money and the portions are a healthy size.
