Boris Johnson and fiancee Carrie Symonds have announced the birth of their baby boy.
A spokeswoman for the Prime Minister and his partner said both mother and baby are “doing very well” after the birth in a London hospital on Wednesday morning.
The spokeswoman said: “The Prime Minister and Ms Symonds are thrilled to announce the birth of a healthy baby boy at a London hospital earlier this morning. Both mother and baby are doing very well.
“The PM and Ms Symonds would like to thank the fantastic NHS maternity team.”
Mr Johnson returned to work on Monday after suffering from the coronavirus.
He was expected to take part in Prime Minister’s Questions this afternoon, his first up against new Labour leader Keir Starmer, but it will instead be led by Dominic Raab.
Mr Johnson has four children from a previous marriage to lawyer Marina Wheeler, who he separated from in 2018.
He is also thought to have one other child from another relationship, and has previously avoided answering the question of how many children he has when asked.
The latest addition to his family will be his first child with 31-year-old Ms Symonds.
The couple announced that they were engaged in February.
