A four-year-old boy is in a critical condition in hospital after he plunged from a top-floor window.
The boy fell from a block of flats in Invercauld Road, Aberdeen at around 5.10pm on Friday.
Calls have now been made for a safety probe following the incident, which has left the Quarryhill Nursery pupil in a critical but stable condition at Glasgow’s Royal Hospital for Children.
Gordon Graham, Labour member for the Northfield & Mastrick North ward on Aberdeen City Council, said: “I don’t know how this was able to happen.
“I understood there should be safety locks on all the windows so we need to look and see how the lad managed to get out of the window at all. I hope the young lad is okay.”
SNP councillor Ciaran McRae added: “I was shocked to hear this news.
“I understand the child is in a critical but stable condition, and I wish him a quick recovery and his family well.
“I will be calling for a full investigation on how this was able to happen.”
After the alarm was raised on Friday night, mercy crews rushed to the scene and took him to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, before he was airlifted to Glasgow.
Yesterday, the window had been boarded up with wooden panels by local authority staff after they were contacted by police.
