VIDEO: Tom Gilzean is the local hero as Edinburgh’s Oor Wullie’s BIG Bucket Trail auction raises £318,000
Edinburgh Children’s Hospital will receive a stunning £318,000 after another exciting night of Oor Wullie’s BIG Bucket Trail auction bidding.
Hundreds of eager bidders packed into the Prestonfield House hotel or joined online for their chance to grab a piece of history from the first ever nationwide public art trail.
Over 60 lots were up for sale at the auction, which followed sales in Dundee and Aberdeenshire earlier this week.

Those auctions raised a combined £555,700 for the ARCHIE Foundation, and Edinburgh pushed the week’s total to £873,700 — with a final auction in Glasgow still to come on Friday.
The top lot of the night was a statue of local hero Tom Gilzean, a war veteran who has raised over £1 million for charity.
His statue sold for £13,000. Thistle Do Nicely also broke the five-figure barrier at £10,000.
A pair of Oor Proclaimers statues sold for a combined £14,000.
