A BUS driver has been found guilty of causing the death of a passenger after crashing his vehicle.
Callum Phillips was driving members of the Nith Valley Rangers supporters’ club to a match when his bus overturned at the Crossroads Roundabout near Kilmarnock.
39-year-old Ryan Baird, from Sanquhar, died at the scene of the incident after becoming trapped and suffering injuries to his chest and abdomen.
36 of his fellow Rangers fans were also travelling on the bus, on their way to see a match against Partick Thistle at Ibrox on October 1 2016.
Phillips, 49, had denied causing death by dangerous driving, claiming that the bus’ brakes had failed.
He had been driving at speeds of up to 73mph before the crash on a road that was a 50mph limit for buses.
Sentence was deferred for reports.
