I tuned in to watch 99-year-old Captain Tom Moore nail the final lap of his walking challenge, which has raised an incredible £23 million – and counting! – for the NHS.
Although the Army veteran set himself a target of raising just £1,000 for NHS Charities Together, his mission to complete 100 laps of his garden before his 100th birthday touched the hearts of so many people that he absolutely smashed it.
Captain Tom really captured people’s imaginations because his goal was so simple.
He was doing his bit, in his way. And wasn’t it incredible to see someone of his age with such a lust for life?
Embracing all the excitement and attention, and inspiring every one of us.
