THE heartbroken parents of a young man who was murdered in Spain are hoping new evidence will help catch his killer.
Ian and Antoinette Mallon have spent years waiting for the man responsible for their son Craig’s death to face justice.
Quantity surveyor Craig, 26, was killed by a single blow to the head as he talked to a girl outside Rockefeller’s nightclub in Lloret de Mar on May 19, 2012.
He had been in the Costa Brava resort for his brother Bryan’s stag do.
Now a development in the case has given Craig’s parents hope.
Former cop David Swindle – the man who helped snare killer Peter Tobin – has obtained CCTV footage of a group of men who are believed to have information vital to the investigation.
The footage shows four French men who were in the square where Craig was killed at the time he was dealt the fatal blow.
In an effort to trace them David and his team have launched an appeal in different languages using images from the CCTV footage as they look to spread the hunt across Europe.
Ian and Antoinette, from Coatbridge, have hailed the development.
They believe several people know who killed their son but have not, as yet, come forward.
Ian, 52, said: “This is the best lead ever. Several people, including former Celtic player Chris Sutton, have been sharing the appeal on social media.
“We have people in France sharing it as well.
“We need to find these men to see if they can assist in the case.
“There are people out there that know what happened. Someone knows who did this.
“If there are people assisting them, they should put themselves in our shoes.
“We will never give up.”
