The Scottish SPCA found families for animals ranging from dogs and cats to fish, terrapins, ferrets and snakes. The charity, which has nine re-homing centres around Scotland, said many animals would be spending their first Christmas in its care, however. The busiest re-homing centre was in Lanarkshire, where more than 1000 pets have found new families since January 1. The charity’s centre in Glasgow found homes for 900 animals, while Edinburgh re-homed 460 and Dundee 580.
