Coronavirus LIVE: Wimbledon cancelled, and Scottish death toll rises by 16

A further 16 people have died from coronavirus in Scotland, first minister Nicola Sturgeon has told the Scottish Parliament.

Ms Sturgeon said there have now been 2,310 positive cases of Covid-19, up from 1,993 yesterday.

Tennis tournament Wimbledon has also been postponed until next year.

Today MSPs are expected to pass emergency coronavirus legislation in a one-day sitting.

The Scottish Government is currently in session to debate the Coronavirus (Scotland) Bill, which will make changes to the justice system, rental sector and public services as a result of the virus.

A decision on the Bill is expected to be made at 6pm.
