Parking charges will be removed at a number of Scottish hospitals amid the coronavirus outbreak.
Health Secretary Jeane Freeman told Holyrood that charges will halted for three months at Dundee’s Ninewells Hospital, Glasgow Royal Infirmary and Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
The charges will be scrapped from Monday March 30 onwards.
Ms Freeman said: “We can’t have barriers to staff working in the NHS.”
In her update to parliament, Ms Freeman also said that she was looking to quadruple Scotland’s ICU capacity to over 700 beds.
She also revealed that there have been almost 3,300 calls from former hospital staff offering to work on the frontline of the crisis.
A number of medical students will also be able to get paid work in helping with the response, Ms Freeman added.
