Coronavirus: We salute the everyday heroes committing simple acts of kindness as nation comes together to help those most in need

As the coronavirus crisis empties our streets, closes businesses and sends our children home from school, thousands of ordinary Scots have been selflessly putting aside their own problems to help those less fortunate than them.

Across the length and breadth of the land, community groups, small firms and private individuals have been asking “what can we do to help?” – and then got busy.
