TOP stunt cyclist Danny MacAskill has admitted he is suffering from the shakes – and it hurts!
The rider faces up to two months out of the saddle to heal his broken knee but he says shaking hands is currently his most painful experience.
The daredevil from Dunvegan on Skye went to see a specialist medic in Manchester this week after falling off his bike in the US.
But he also revealed he had been carrying a broken bone in his hand for a couple of weeks “but it only hurts when I shake people’s hands”.
Daredevil Danny MacAskill on crutches after breaking kneecap
MacAskill flew back from Los Angeles last weekend and is recuperating in Glasgow.
“I have had a good run from being injury-free. I haven’t had any really for three years,” said Danny, whose latest accident happened in San Diego, California.
“I’ve broken a knee cap and it should take six to eight weeks to heal. It is not too complicated a break.
“I was wearing knee pads so luckily it did not shatter the knee. It’s fine and not too painful – it’s more of a hindrance.”
MacAskill said the injury happened after he fell off trying a trick on railings and landing on concrete. He also hit his teeth in the fall “but they stayed in place”.
He added: “I didn’t notice the knee injury at first – with the adrenaline – but the knee pad swelled up. I knew something was wrong. I’ve had the hand injury for three weeks and that should heal itself.”
