David Tennant says landing role in Neil Gaiman's Good Omens is 'dream gig'

DAVID TENNANT has described his role in Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s Good Omens as a “dream gig”.

The former Doctor Who star will play opposite Michael Sheen in a six-part TV adaptation of the hit book.

The duo will play an angel and a demon who are not very enthusiastic about the end of the world in the co-production between Amazon and the BBC.

The duo have lived among mortals since The Beginning and are not very happy about the upcoming Apocalypse ruining their status quo.

The series will be directed by Douglas Mackinnon, who has worked on Doctor Who, Outlander and the Emmy-winning Victorian episode of Sherlock, The Abominable Bride.

Tennant said: “Michael Sheen, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett and directed by Douglas Mackinnon, it’s a dream team and a dream gig.

“I am very excited that I’ve been asked to be part of this amazing project. Bring on the Apocalypse!”

Sheen added: “I first read Good Omens as a teenager and it’s been one of my favourite stories ever since.

“And, just like the rest of the world, I’m a huge fan of David’s so I relish trying to save it with him.”

“The best Welsh actor of his generation gets to be an angel, the best Scottish actor of his, a demon.

“Terry and I wrote Good Omens (I like to think it’s one of the funniest novels ever written about the end of the world and how we are all going to die) almost 30 years ago.

“It’s strange that it feels more relevant now than it ever did before. I only wish that Terry could be here to see it come to life with such a fantastic team.”

Good Omens will launch on Amazon Prime Video in 2019 before it is broadcast on BBC Two at a later date.
