Jane Fonda says her clenched-fist defiance – summed up in a famous mugshot – still fuels her urge to protest 50 years on.
Asked what she was thinking she was photographed after being wrongly accused of having drugs in her suitcase in 1970, the actress, 82, said: “Defiance…I’m just glad the lighting was good.”
Speaking ahead of the publication this week of her memoir What Can I Do?, the actress, who has been arrested more recently on climate change protests in Washington, said: I’ve been an environmental activist since the 1970s,”
And the two-time Oscar winner says she will never give up protesting.
