SIMON MURRAY hopes he is back on the goal trail after scoring the winner for Hibernian against Hearts on Tuesday night.
The former Dundee United striker started his Hibs career with 10 goals in seven games, but had gone off the boil, failing to score in seven previous appearances and losing his place in the side.
With Anthony Stokes out injured, Murray was reinstated by Neil Lennon after a lean spell and took only until the third minute at Easter Road to repay his manager, slipping the ball through the legs of Gorgie defender John Souttar before lashing it high past Jambos goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin.
The devastating strike proved enough to give the home side three deserved points and take them into fifth place in the Ladbrokes Premiership and now he wants more.
Hibs boss Neil Lennon says 1-0 Edinburgh derby scoreline ‘flattered’ Hearts
“It is a goal I will never forget,” the 25-year-old told HibsTV:
“I have just had to bide my time in the last few matches and I just kept working hard in training.
“Sometimes you need a wee break and that’s what happens when you work hard, I am just delighted.
“I am delighted for my team-mates as well, they were excellent.
“Anthony Stokes being injured gave me my opportunity to come in. He is a big player for us and hopefully he is back soon.
“I am delighted that I contributed.
“It was an amazing atmosphere, especially after the game.
“When I signed here, that’s what I was wanting and it was brilliant.
“It doesn’t get much better than that and I will remember and hopefully we will be doing it in the next one.”

Murray looked forward to the weekend’s trip to Motherwell, who booked their place in the Betfred Cup final on Sunday with a 2-0 win over Rangers at Hampden Park.
He said: “Everyone can see the boys have been playing well, maybe just not getting the run of the ball of whatever it is.
“Hopefully that kicks the boys on.
“We know it is going to be a really tough game on Saturday, they are flying high, especially after the semi-final.
“But hopefully that win will pick us up again.”
