SCOTS who eagerly packed away their winter woollies during last week’s bout of good weather are being warned to keep their gloves handy – another bone-chilling freeze is on its way.
Sun worshippers enjoyed some of the highest temperatures of the year across parts of Scotland last week but now forecasts are predicting a cold snap….with the potential for snow!
The turnaround will begin with rain today and wintry showers expected by the middle of the week.
Low pressure will dominate in the north, resulting in a cooler, wetter west to north-westerly air flow. There is an increased risk of a cold northerly plunge and temperatures falling below normal for the time of year.
As the mercury drops it will increase the threat of snow over high ground in Scotland, Wales and northern England.
Leon Brown, chief forecaster at The Weather Channel, said: “The beginning of the change will be Sunday as cooler Atlantic air moves eastwards.
“We may see air frosts by the end of next week too with temperatures -2 or -3C in Scotland.
“Showers will be wintry over higher ground.”
