MULTI-MILLIONAIRE Scots DJ Calvin Harris has revealed he has not suffered heart problems since giving up a drinking habit which saw him get through up to two bottles of Jack Daniels a night.
Dumfries-born Harris, the world’s top-earning DJ, said his unhealthy lifestyle of alcohol, pasties and sleeping on tour buses got him into a “right old state.”
He was forced to pull out of the MTV Europe Music Awards in Glasgow in 2014 after a heart scare, which he has now said was arrhythmia.
But during a question and answer session on Twitter, he said he has not had a recurrence since giving up alcohol four years ago.
The 34-year-old was asked by a fan if going teetotal had made a “noticeable difference” to his life and he replied: “Aye things are a bit less fun but haven’t had an arrhythmia since 2014.”
Another follower urged him to encourage budding producers, but Harris wrote: “Wouldn’t dream of encouraging anyone to drink 2 bottles a night and live off the baker – got me in a right old state my dear.”
He also said he did not miss touring and sleeping on “an absolutely stinking bus all year” and added: “Those days are behind me.”
Arrythmias – or a problem with the heart’s rhythm – affect two million people a year in the UK.
