Hundreds of thousands of Scots face missing their favourite TV and radio shows today as record strength air pressure scrambles broadcasters’ signals.
Some fans of prime-time programmes such as ITV’s Dancing On Ice and BBC’s Doctor Who are set to see distorted or blank screens.
TV chiefs and weathermen said broadcasts to home TV aerials and radios will be jumbled up as they reflect off an unusual warm layer of air above cold air at ground level.
Freeview, which provides TV channels to six in 10 UK homes, fears worse blackouts than on December 28, when viewers in many areas saw bad or no signals for some channels amid high air pressure.
The higher the air pressure, the worse television signals are, experts said.
Satellite broadcasters such as Sky and Freesat will not be affected.
