THE legend that was Alan Longmuir sadly passed away on Monday, aged 70.
He sang Shang-A-Lang and ran with the Bay City Rollers gang for 50 years.
I’m truly saddened by his passing, but also very proud to have been able to run with him, Les and Woody a couple of years back, when I promoted their successful BCR UK reunion tour.
They were so popular they sold-out four nights at the Glasgow Barrowlands and two nights at Edinburgh’s Usher Hall and, a year later, played a massive show at the SSE Hydro.
Sadly, for reasons that have been well documented and for others that have not, the band again split up.
But Alan, throughout all the bust-ups, was always the gentleman and always acted with dignity.
One of the nicest guys you could ever care to meet.
Bye, bye, Alan, you will always be remembered as more than just a Summerlove Sensation.
