THE driver of a bus has been taken to hospital after the vehicle crashed into a shop in East Dunbartonshire.
Investigations are underway into the incident which saw the McGill’s vehicle come off the road and become lodged in a tanning salon in Kirkintilloch.
It happened at around 7:40am this morning, with no other injuries reported. It is understood that the driver was the only person in the vehicle at the time.
He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment, but his injuries are not life-threatening.
Police have cordoned off the area around the shop but East Dunbartonshire Council said the main road has reopened, with Freeland Place closed off.
NOW – Townhead, Kirkintilloch has reopened to traffic following an RTA near the junction of Freeland Place, however, Freeland Place is currently closed off.

A spokesperson for the bus operators said: “We can confirm there was an accident with a McGill’s vehicle.
“This is currently undergoing investigation, however we can report our driver is stable and no pedestrians were injured.
“We are reviewing CCTV and working closely with the police to establish what caused the accident.”
