DELIVERING killer performances has seen EastEnders star Ricky Champ make the shortlist for newcomer at this week’s National TV Awards.
But it was delivering Woody Harrelson on time as a cabbie that was one of his biggest acting achievements.
Ricky, who plays Stuart Highway in the soap, was in Lost In London, a film shot live in the capital a couple of years ago.
“I was driving a cab and had this five-minute scene with Woody in the back,” said Ricky.
“More than 500 cinemas in America were streaming it, with half a million people watching live. I had to negotiate four sets of traffic lights and if I got stuck at them and we were late at the drop-off point for the next scene we’d have to improvise.
“It’s one of the busiest roads in Europe and I was praying for green lights – and not to crash.”
In less than a year, Stuart has made a massive impact.
“He’s come in sprinting and swinging,” added Ricky.
“It’s been really full-on but I’ve always liked action stuff, so I’ve enjoyed the fight scenes.
“I’ve got to know Danny Dyer well and he’s been so open and welcoming.”
The NTAs will be screened live on ITV tonight. You can vote for your favourites at nationaltvawards.com
