Champions League winners Liverpool have confirmed they’ll play a glamour friendly against Napoli at the home of Scottish Rugby.
The Premier League giants, who boast Scotland captain Andrew Robertson in their ranks, will face the Serie A side at BT Murrayfield on July 28.
The fixture had initially been planned for the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, but as the two teams played each other in last weekend’s final, the match was switched to another venue.

Scottish Rugby’s Chief Operating Officer Dominic McKay said: “We are delighted to be able to host this world-class match. It is a massive coup to secure Liverpool and SSC Napoli and shows the fantastic reputation BT Murrayfield has on the international sporting stage.
“This match is a unique opportunity to see international club football in Scotland this summer, a treat for any sports fans. The Edinburgh International Festival begins a few days after this fixture so this will add to an already exciting time in the capital city.”
BT Murrayfield has played host to eight football matches over the last 15 years, including hosting European ties for Celtic, one of last season’s Betfred Cup semi-finals and friendlies featuring Barcelona.
But this will be the first time Liverpool will play at the 67,000-seater stadium, and their first trip to Edinburgh since a 2012 Europa League win over Hearts at Tynecastle.
Billy Hogan, the club’s Managing Director and Chief Commercial Officer, said: “Scotland is inextricably linked to our heritage as a club and is somewhere we’ve wanted to play for a while.
“Playing in front of our Scottish fans in a world class venue like BT Murrayfield will be an incredible occasion and we’re really excited to sample the atmosphere we’ve heard so much about.”
Tickets for Liverpool FC vs SSC Napoli will go on general sale on Wednesday 12 June via ticketmaster.co.uk.
