LIKE a perfect Victoria sponge, excitement is rising around the country ahead of this year’s Great British Bake Off final.
The series will come to a close today and the three finalists have revealed their highs and lows ahead of the finale.
Fan favourite Steven Carter-Bailey, 34, said: “I had three wishes before we started filming and they were to make it through week one, get a Hollywood handshake and to get a star baker. I managed all three in the first week.
“The lowest moment happened every time a friend went home at the end of each week.”
Kate Lyon, 29, said: “It’s hard to pick a favourite moment. I would probably pick coming out the tent after the final show stopper challenge and seeing everyone there to celebrate.
“The lowest moments, for me, were always at the end of each week.”
While bookies favourite, former army officer Sophie Faldo, 33, said: “My worst moment was after the first day of week 8, ‘Forgotten Bakes’.
“The highest moment was probably getting a handshake on my very first challenge.”
