A Highland schoolgirl saved the day for a student in London after stumbling across a vital university notebook on a remote hillside.
Molly Burnett, 14, from Loch Eriboll, Sutherland, was out for a walk last month when something yellow tucked under a clump of heather caught her eye.
It was a small book. And when she opened it she realised it was a geologist’s account of local rock formations.
Once home, Molly gave the book to her mum Fiona, noting that there was a name and address on the inside cover. Fiona found the owner on Facebook and made contact.
Mansi Baguant, a geology student from the University College of London, confirmed the notebook was hers.
She had lost it in September while visiting Eriboll, an important site for geologists.
Mansi said: “This has made my day. I cried so much when losing it because it was worth 30% of my module grade.
“We had spent half a day looking for it.”
Fiona replied: “We are drying it out by the fire. It is still readable. Is it too late for your exam?”
Mansi said: “Nope. It is due in January. Love how life has its own way of giving you back what you lose.”
