Former Rangers captain Fernando Ricksen fears “time is ticking away” as he battles motor neurone disease.
The former footballer, 42, who was diagnosed with the illness in 2013, is preparing for an emotional reunion with fans at an event in Glasgow next week which will mark his final public appearance.
He said: “I still have the same hopes as when I got diagnosed – to be the first person to beat MND, but I’m realistic and know time is ticking away.
“The only thing I can do is keep fighting.”
An Evening With Fernando Ricksen will be staged at GoGlasgow Urban Hotel on June 28.
