MENTAL HEALTH charities hailed an MSP yesterday after she revealed her battle with depression.
Gail Ross, who represents Caithness, Sutherland and Ross, thanked the NHS for providing support after issues that had first plagued her in her 20s resurfaced last year.
The politician urged others who are struggling with mental health issues to ask for help.
Gail, 40, said: “Don’t suffer alone. It’s hard to talk about because although it’s getting better, there’s still a stigma around mental health.
“It’s not a weakness, it can affect anyone. Seeking help is your strength and you’ll be glad you did.”
The Mental Health Foundation said: “What Gail did is truly inspirational – people look up to her as an elected representative, and will hopefully be encouraged to speak out and seek help.”
