The Glasgow singer said: “Anyone that know me knows all I care about is folk having a class night and getting home safe.”
He described the decision as a “no brainer” that “pales in comparison to the s*** other folk are going through.”
On Friday, Gerry thanked fans for making his second album ‘The Bonny’ Number 1 in the Official Album Charts in the UK and Ireland.
He said: “Numbers mean nothing to me. Folk blasting the tunes and singing them like they mean it means everything. Had my back since day one. Only reason I stayed in this game.
“Shout out to all frontline staff.”
