EMERGENCY services have responded to reports of a loud explosion heard in Glasgow this afternoon.
People in nearby areas told of buildings shaking due to the noise, reported to be from a blast at the EMR Scrapyard on the city’s South Street.
There was a ball of smoke rose from Clydebank direction, but within 30 seconds had dissipated in the wind. Didn't see what caused it, this is what I saw after hearing the boom in the city centre. pic.twitter.com/FBw7coHWLq

Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service say they are attending the scene.
Locals took to social media to find out what was going on after hearing a loud bang.
Comedian Brian ‘Limmy’ Limond tweeted: “Just heard an explosion near Victoria Park (Whiteinch), then smoke in the sky. What the **** was that?”

Peter Russell wrote: “Seems to have been explosion of some kind in South Street Glasgow. Big bang over whole area, now some sirens.”
Gregg Kearney said: “Anyone know what that loud bang was in Glasgow ? Sounded like an explosion.”
Gloria Shuri Henry tweeted: “Did anyone hear that loud bang bear Victoria Park?” to which Paul McLauchlan replied: “I heard it too. Could see some smoke off to the Southwest of Partick.”
