Glaswegians have come out top as the UK’s friendliest people, according to new research.
The study, conducted by GalaBingo.com, revealed that 50% of people from Glasgow have at least five close friends, almost twice the UK average of three.
The study found that across the UK as a whole, large friendship groups are much less common than having just a couple of close pals.
Two thirds of British people have less than five good friends, while on in 14 said they have no close friends at all.
After Glasgow, Bristol was the next ‘friendliest’ city, with 42% of its residents having five or more good friends. Southhampton came third with 39% and London and Edinburgh joint fourth with 36%.
Trust was found to be the most important thing for Glaswegians’ friendships. Other desirable traits included honesty, loyalty, sense of humour and good listeners.
