GLASGOW’S Subway is set to close early this evening due to the weather.
The underground system had remained open while other public transport services fell foul to the extreme winter conditions throughout the day.
The network will, however, close at 7pm this evening (Wednesday).
A spokesperson said: “In light of the relentless adverse weather, for the safety of our staff & for operational safety reasons the Subway will close at 7pm this evening. Last train will leave Govan at 18:30, last train leaves the City Centre at 18:45.
“A huge thank you to all our staff who have pulled out all the stops today to keep running as long as we have. We are aiming to be up and running again tomorrow morning.”
First bus services in Scotland’s largest city have been suspended since 4pm due to the weather.
All ScotRail services out of Glasgow and in the areas affected by the Red weather warning have also been cancelled.
Drivers have been warned not to take to the roads with treacherous conditions all across the country.
