A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called to the scene around 11.25am on Wednesday morning where officers discovered an unexploded device on the canal path near to Cleveden Road.
“As a precaution the station has been shut but the railway line remains open.
“EOD have been called and inquiries are continuing.”
