The modern and utterly chic Go Sangatsu in Glasgow’s SWG3
Location
Within the Acid Bar at SWG3, one of the city’s trendiest music and arts venues, Go Sangatsu is a new residency from popular eatery, Five March. It’s 10 to 15 minutes on foot from Finnieston, with on-street parking nearby.
First impressions
Cool, modern and utterly chic, the dining area has both indoor and outdoor seating. Everyone from students to cocktail-sipping pals will feel at home here.
Service
The staff could not be nicer. Warm and friendly, you’ll feel instantly relaxed.
Menu
Similar to its sister restaurant, the menu focuses on sharing plates, only with a Japan-inspired twist.
The selection is small but perfectly formed, with fresh vegetable-based dishes sitting alongside tempting meaty options. The kitchen were very accommodating for the vegan member of our party, and happily adapted dishes to suit.
Taste
First thing’s first – don’t leave without trying the potatoes. Crispy and golden on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, the unique roasties are served with miso aioli (garlicky mayo to you and me) and topped with flakes of salt.
Simply delicious. Other dishes worth noting were the miso carrot katsu, the teriyaki chicken and the oh-so juicy crispy pork belly. Everything was fresh, fragrant and clearly contained top quality ingredients.
Ambience
It was early evening and we sat outside, where there was a laid-back buzz. Inside, cocktails were flowing!
Value
Plates range from £4 to £12, and whether it’s a light lunch at the weekend or a mid-week dinner, we think it’s well worth your hard-earned pennies.
