Bakery chain Greggs has launched its new vegan steak bake.
The meat-free version of one of their biggest sellers had been hotly anticipated since the launch of a vegan sausage roll this time last year.
The arrival of the product on shelves this morning helps mark the start of Veganuary, the annual January drive to encourage people to cut down on their meat intake.

The vegan steak bake looks almost identical to the original version, with 96 thin layers of puff pastry.
It does not have the egg glaze, and the filling is made with Quorn, mixed with diced onions and meat-free gravy.
It’s priced at £1.55 and is on sale in 1,300 stores across the country from today before being introduced at Greggs’ other 700 outlets on January 16.
Greggs’ chief executive, Roger Whiteside, said: “Our vegan sausage roll launch was a huge success and we’ve been working tirelessly to expand our vegan-friendly offering and provide more delicious savoury food on-the-go options for people looking to reduce their meat intake.
“The launch of our vegan steak bake is another key milestone on our journey to become our customers’ favourite for food-on-the-go. We look forward to hearing the feedback.”
The vegan sausage roll became one of Greggs’ top sellers after its launch in January 2019, helping company sales increase by 13.4%.
A number of other food retailers have also increased their vegan ranges, including Co-Op, Waitrose and KFC.
