ABERDEEN have completed the signing of Hamilton defender Michael Devlin, the Dons have announced.
Derek McInnes has beaten former Accies boss Alex Neil – who had hoped to lure the Lanarkshire outfit’s captain to Preston – after handing the 24-year-old a three-and-a-half-year contract.
Devlin – who spent 18 months at Pittodrie as a teenager – rejoins his former club for an undisclosed fee but will have to wait to make his debut as he continues his recovery from a serious knee injury sustained at the end of last season.
The centre-back, who racked up almost 150 appearances for his old side, is hopeful he will be back in action within a couple of months.
He told the Dons website: “Derek McInnes didn’t have to sell the club to me. As soon as I heard of Aberdeen’s interest I couldn’t wait to join the Dons to hopefully win trophies and play regular European football.”
