SOMETHING fishy has been going on in St Andrews…
A six-foot statue of a mackerel, normally found outside the Fife town’s aquarium, has gone missing.
The model, nicknamed Big Mac, has stood guard outside the attraction for the last four years.
But following last Friday’s graduation festivities in the town, he was nowhere to be seen thanks to the work of brazen thieves.

John Mace, Managing Director of St Andrews Aquarium, said: “Big Mac went missing from outside the Aquarium overnight on Friday, June 29 and he was last seen heading in the direction of the Town Centre.
“He’s quite heavy and it would probably have taken two or three people to lift him. Staff are gutted by his disappearance and we would love to have him back home. Any information leading to his recovery would be gratefully received.”
An appeal has been launched to ensure the safe return of the statue, with a promise that no questions will be asked if he is to appear again at his usual spot.
Fife Police have, however, been informed.
