Hibs have warned fans to be wary of scam emails claiming to be offering them tickets for the upcoming Scottish Cup final.

Fans have been targeted by the fraudulent messages, which purport to be allowing the purchase of two tickets for the event.

The Edinburgh side play St Johnstone later this month at Hampden, but the number of fans able to attend has yet to be finalised.

The club tweeted: “We have been made aware of fraudulent emails purporting to offer fans Scottish Cup Final tickets. Please note no tickets are currently on sale. We welcome Uefa’s approval for a limited number of fans at Hampden and will provide updates on how tickets will be distributed soon.

“If you receive the below email offering Scottish Cup Final tickets please report it and do not click on any links or provide personal details. We are in regular conversations with the SFA and will provide more information to fans as soon as possible.”

The final takes place on May 22, and was set to be played behind closed doors.

However, Uefa have now given approval for fans to be allowed into Hampden, which will be under their control ahead of the upcoming Euro 2020 tournament.

A Hibs spokesman said on Wednesday: “It is positive news to hear Uefa have given approval to the Scottish FA to have limited fans at The Scottish Cup Final.

“We are in regular conversation with the Scottish FA and the precise number of supporters is still to be determined and will depend upon gaining approval from the Scottish Government.

“Once we know what the final number is, we will let fans know how we plan to distribute the small number of tickets available.

“Meantime, we would urge supporters not to contact the ticket office on this matter.

“We will update fans as soon as we possibly can on how we plan to distribute tickets.”

Uefa is set to allow 12,000 fans to attend four games at Hampden this summer, including Scotland’s games against the Czech Republic and Croatia in June.
