Meet the Instagran: Kathy Allen, 68, Alexandria

Kathy Allen is marking a milestone this week. The gran of three, 68, is retiring after 16 years as a Boots counter assistant.

Kathy, who lives in Alexandria, West Dunbartonshire, devotes her life to her family, especially her grandchildren Ben, 15, Jake, 13, and Shay, 12.

Here she shares her favourite snaps.

Special memories

This shot of me was taken on holiday in Rhodes, Greece earlier this year. I love travelling and try to get away a few times a year; at least twice with my husband, Gary, and once with my daughter, sisters and nieces.

I especially love getting away with the whole family for special occasions such as birthdays.

There is nothing better than spending time with the people you love – especially with a gin and tonic in hand!

My fab three

My children make my life complete. Here’s Lee, 44, Kelly, 41, Mark, 33, and I, Christmas 2017. I’m proud of the wonderful people they’ve become.

I moan about being their babysitter, dog walker and ironing service but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Partyin’ all night

Kelly and I really enjoy our girlie holidays. We were in Tenerife last year with my three younger sisters, nieces and friends. It was my sister Ann’s 60th birthday – a great excuse for a weekend in the sun.

The photo was taken just outside Biancos where we ate that evening before going on to a nightclub. We had a brilliant time. We always have great fun when all the ladies get away together, although I’m sure we didn’t look like this the next morning at the pool!

A bit wurst for wear

I went to my grandson’s Halloween party dressed as a hotdog. The costume was sized for a 10-year-old. I managed to squeeze into it but after lots of giggling fits I realised I couldn’t get it back off. I almost dislocated my shoulder trying which, of course, made the whole thing even funnier. My gorgeous grandsons still love this picture. They mean the world to me, so if it makes them laugh, that’s all that matters.
