Time magazine has unveiled its annual list of the world’s 100 “most influential people” and it perhaps comes as no surprise that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were chosen as the cover stars.
Announced on the same day Harry celebrated his 37th birthday, the couple were nominated for the title by José Andrés, founder of World Central Kitchen, which is supported by the Sussexes’ foundation, Archewell.
While Harry and Megan and the other celebrated 99 influencers, including Naomi Osaka, Britney Spears, Kamala Harris and Elon Musk, are certainly deserving, I can’t help but feel like we should be doing more to highlight the important work done by everyday people.
There are so many people working behind the scenes or under the radar at community projects, charities and foundations who deserve just as much recognition.
There’s a few on Time’s list, but let’s do more to champion our unsung heroes.
