Sir Kenny Dalglish has his say as Rangers face Celtic in crucial Old Firm clash

Alfredo Morelos ruled out for the next two weeks at least, and Kyogo Furuhashi now in contention for the first team after four months on the sidelines.

Two contrasting, but highly significant, pieces of news for the Old Firm over recent days.

Morelos’ ability isn’t in doubt, and he was a potential match winner in today’s top-of-the-table clash. It’s a huge blow to Giovanni van Bronckhorst not to have the Colombian.

For Ange Postecoglou to have Furuhashi back is of a huge benefit, and it looks as though he will play some part at Ibrox today.

He has wonderful movement, quick feet and an eye for goal. He has the ability to win the game.

So Allan McGregor will need to be on top form today.

Giovanni may have to switch things around without Morelos because he doesn’t have a direct replacement. He may come up with something completely different, and he has shown he isn’t afraid to do that.

It’s not ideal for him, but that is life as a football manager. You know never to take anything for granted. Life is never smooth.

But you can’t dwell on any negatives, or feel sorry for yourself. You must dust yourself down and get on with it.

Rangers can’t afford to lose today. That’s the reality. A win for them really blows the title race wide open.

A Celtic victory would see the Parkhead club with one hand on the Premiership title with just six games to go.

So it makes for a cracker this afternoon, and all eyes will be on it.

Regardless of the outcome today, Rangers will need to quickly turn their attention to their Europa League quarter-final against Braga.

They travel to Portugal for Thursday’s first leg, and the stakes are high with a semi-final place on the line.

I think Rangers can bring the tie back to Glasgow with a positive result in the bag. They can go over there, and get a draw.

As for today, though?

I’m going for a draw. That keeps Celtic firmly in the driving seat – but with nothing guaranteed.
