LEWIS MORGAN says he is ready, willing and able to be part of the solution to Celtic’s scoring problems.
The Hoops head into this afternoon’s Premiership match with St Johnstone in Perth having only netted five times in their last half-dozen games.
That’s a run which is in sharp contrast to their form of the last two seasons, and one which threatens to undermine their ambitions, both domestically and in Europe.
It is, Morgan insists, only temporary with the champions having been working hard to regain their swagger.
“We are finding it hard to break down teams because they are playing a different style against us,” said the winger.
“Given the success we have had in the last couple of years that’s totally understandable.
“What we are working on now is finding solutions to break down these teams and results are starting to come.
“The loss in Salzburg on Thursday night wasn’t what we wanted, but we just need to get into that rhythm again and goals will come.
“I have belief I can help the team in certain aspects and when I am called upon I just need to show that.
“Goals are a big part of my game and they are something I hope I can contribute.”
Having completed his move from St Mirren in the summer, the 22-year-old suffered a setback in the form of an enforced layoff for remedial surgery.
“I had a wee loose body in my knee that had to be removed and I needed a wee clean-up, it wasn’t anything too major,” he explained.
“With any surgery there is a rehabilitation process, but I’m through that now. I’m feeling back to normal and champing at the bit to get playing.
“Obviously when you have that extended period on the sidelines, it gives you that bit between your teeth to get going again.
“I’ve just got to make sure that when I get my chance I take it and force my way back in.
“As a substitute, when you come off the bench it is quite tough to make an impact, but you are so desperate to do well.
“You hope to have that wee impact in a game that triggers you getting into the team and then you can kick on from there.
“That’s where I am at the moment, and I’m working hard in training every day to show why I should be playing.”
