A frozen black pudding from Stornoway which helped save a butcher’s life has been sold.
Chris McCabe – who runs a butcher’s shop in Totnes, Devon – recently made headlines after he stepped into his walk-in freezer for some lamb shanks and the steel door blew shut behind him and locked itself.
In desperation, panic-stricken Chris eventually reached for a frozen black pudding and used it to bash the emergency release button over and over until the door swung open.
The black pudding was supplied by Sheridan’s in Ballater.
“I ended up selling the black pudding that saved my life, and have replaced it many times since,” Chris said.
