THE sudden appearance of yellow lines on a road has left residents unable to park outside their homes.
The double and single yellow lines were painted on Bath Street, Largs, to help ease congestion around the CalMac ferry terminal.
Resident of 20 years David Findleton, 63, said he had never seen the traffic regulations before and was given no prior warning.
He said: “Things have changed in the last six years. There are more residents, more cars and it’s absolutely ridiculous. It’s shocking, actually, and it causes a lot of anger here. This is just the tip of the iceberg.
“CalMac is a business and it’s at our expense to accommodate them which is absolutely scandalous.
“We live here and we should have a certain right to parking, which we have done until now.”
Councillor Tom Marshall said: “The meeting to put in these proposals was held without consulting us, which is just unacceptable.
“I also believe CalMac should have more responsibility in terms of organising their ferry traffic.”
A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: “We have agreed a range of works around the Largs ferry terminal which we hope will help alleviate traffic congestion and provide a better experience for residents and visitors.”
