If you live in Scotland and you haven’t spent a weekend in Edinburgh, then now is the time! This enchanting city which dates back to around 850 BC has some incredible things to do and see.

From soaking up the atmosphere by strolling along the Royal Mile which leads you up to Edinburgh Castle, built on a 700-million-year-old extinct volcano, to paying a visit to the National Museum of Scotland to learn about the history of our bonnie country, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

White water rafting at Cairngorms National Park

Home to the River Findhorn, this area offers unparalleled scenery and thrilling rafting which sees you drop 500 ft over 18 miles.

You can choose to stay in your very own Highland hideaway thanks to a range of self-catering apartments which are dotted around the hills, or you can check in at a hotel. There are plenty of options to choose from!

Oh I do like to be bedside the seaside: Kippford

With over 8,000 miles of coastline, Scotland is ideal for a beach holiday.

Why not book a long weekend break in Kippford, on the Solway coast in Dumfries and Galloway, which boasts lovely views over the Urr Estuary towards Rough Island and Hestan Island.

While you’re there why not take advantage of all that the local area has to offer including beautiful coastal and forest walks, golf, cycling, fishing and sailing… you will be spoilt for choice!

Tip: If the weather forecast isn’t good for your visit, why not go to the Devil’s Porridge Museum where you and the little ones can discover the how this now tranquil area was once a flourished into a hub of wartime activity.
