MACKIE’S have launched a new limited edition flavour of crisps as part of a charity fundraising campaign.
Packs of the Sausage and Caramelised Onion crisps will be stocked in 55 Asda stores across the country, with some of the proceeds going to the Perth-based company’s charity partner, Muscular Dystrophy UK.
7p from each of the 50,000 packs will go to the charity.
Other flavours which previously launched in Asda stores in Scotland include Haggis & Cracked Black Pepper, Scotch Bonnet Chilli Pepper, Flamegrilled Aberdeen Angus and Honey & Mustard.
James Taylor, Commercial Director at Mackie’s Crisps, said: “Sausage and Caramelised Onion seemed the perfect fit for a new Summer flavour and we’re delighted to be able to launch this and support Muscular Dystrophy UK at the same time.
“The support from Asda listing this new product into their stores has been vital to our fundraising efforts.”
The company says its eight-year partnership with the supermarket chain has helped them expand local recruitment, with almost 50 staff now working across various roles based at their production factory in Errol, Perthshire.
Regional Buying Manager at Asda, Heather Turnbull, added: “The new crisp listing makes a fine addition to our already substantial Mackie’s offering.
“Supporting local Scottish suppliers is an integral part of what we strive to do at Asda and we’re delighted to be expanding Mackie’s range across our stores.”
