THE victim of a drive-by shooting in the Maryhill area of Glasgow has died in hospital.
29-year-old Kenny Reilly was shot in the head by a gunman while stopped at a set of traffic lights on the city’s Bilsland Drive at around 10:20pm on Monday night.
He was taken to the Royal Infirmary where he died on Wednesday.
The suspect, who was wearing a black balaclava, got back into the car after taking the shot and the vehicle sped off in the direction of Maryhill Road.
The black Ford Focus was later found burnt out at Craigieburn Gardens, Maryhill.
Police are still looking for witnesses or anyone with relevant information to come forward.
Detective Superintendent Kenny Graham of Greater Glasgow Division said: “Whoever is responsible for this shooting clearly has no regard for the safety of those living in this busy residential area, and they must be caught.
“We are continuing our enquiries today to establish a motive for this crime, and although we believe that this was a targeted attack and that the 29 year-old man was the intended victim, we are pursuing all lines of enquiry.
“Extensive forensic examinations are ongoing in both Bilsland Drive and Craigieburn Gardens where the burnt-out vehicle was found.”
Police have urged anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area prior to the shooting, any witnesses to the incident, or who has any information whatsoever to contact Maryhill Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 4332 of 16th April.
Alternatively CRIMESTOPPERS can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.
High visibility police patrols have been stepped up in the area.
